This 'retirement makes you focus' is only valid if a retirement is forced or natural, like Jupp. But if you choose to retire early, think about it, what can be the motive? It can only be you caring something else more, like family. But no one will retire to focus on the last chance. No one ever.

I hate RM, but it's really the end of an era for Bayern. Ribery, Schweini are way worse than their peak. Alaba, Muller lost momentum. Robben is ageing and declining inevitably. Lahm is quitting early.

It was nice but it's all over.

You're wrong, because when i compare the way Lahm was playing before the announcement and after, he improved his play by a lot, like he took out the weight on his shoulders and begun playing free of worries. He will retire because he doesn't have a desire to play one more season, and that's ok, at least we don't have see a husk of player, like Alonso.

Lahm improved but I just can't imagine how you lead the team when you have no desire to thrive for a CL championship before retirement.

Lahm won one already, what the fuck you're talking about. His only missing titles were a Europa League and a European Championship.

I think he meant one last CL.

Nice article Sakujo! It's something I felt as well but could never put into words or into a solid thought.
Like sdzogs said, it also had an effect on me and my passion for Bayern. Hard to admit that it just didn't feel the same and apparently I wasn't alone.
No doubt I still am madly in love with my team and will always support them!
Really liked Garci's comment about Alaba. "Are you seeing this guy?" How many times I felt this when closely following his early development.

So glad we have players like Vidal, Neuer and Müller. The two Germans I believe have it in their DNA to always, every game give their best. The Chilean is a beast and I hope his passion catches onto the others.
Now we just need Pizarro again gg
