Arjen Robben is currently doubtful with a minor knee problem and did not appear on the practice ground on Sunday.

Rode is going to win a lot of hearts after this game, if he takes part of it, of course. I believe this guy can contribute a lot to a good results.

Was also going to post an alternative with Rode in alongside him and take out either Gotze/Muller for a 4-2-3-1

Yeah, he's a much better fit for a 4-2-3-1. The problem with a 4-1-4-1 (or a 4-3-3 along the same lines) is that that one lone DM has to be a near-perfect player in all elements of defensive and offensive play. It's like a box-to-box midfielder, only far more demanding and impressive. With a single player as the only transit between offensive and attack, that one defensive player needs to be a master of defensive positioning and tackling, while having the quickness and intelligence to play the RIGHT one-touch short- and medium-distance passing to seamlessly turn a defensive movement by the whole team into an instant attack, all with a single tackle and a tackle pass.

IMHO, it's the most demanding position (or rather variation of this position, since it's still a DM/CM) in the entire game and there are maybe three players in the world who can really do it with any degree of consistency.

If we must play with 3 man defence and injury issue of Robben and Batstuber I would like to see:

Secound half: Rode, Hojbjerg, Shaq...

But with Pep, I believe that I completely missed the lineup

In the U. S. this is broadcast on Fox Sports 1 in HD. The Dortmund/Arsenal game on Tuesday is also broadcast on Fox Sports 1 in HD.

We pretty much know where Pep prefers his players by now. Since Bads is out and Benatia might not be ready, Lahm will go to right back and Gaudino will come into midfield. Ribery will probably replace Gotze as well. Robben seems to have not recovered from his injury either.

Neuer
Lahm - Boateng - Dante - Bernat
Alonso
Gaudino - Alaba
Mueller - Lewandowski - Ribery

seeing Alaba being wasted in CM position is hurting me ..
the feeling of "I can't wait till Pep gone" is growing up on me every match I see either Lahm or Alaba playing in the midfield ..

Not feeling optimistic about our season at all ..
