A bit of team news: Boateng will be available again as he's now served his (initially 3 then reduced to 2) BL match ban.

Alonso was back in training today and will be on the plane to Lviv.

About the match:

The match will be played in Lviv rather than Donetsk due to the conflict in the Donbass region, and the Donbass Arena (Shakhtar's home stadium) has been damaged by shelling during the conflict.

The Arena Lviv has a capacity of 34,915 and an estimated 1700 Bayern fans are expected at the game.

Bayern will fly to Lviv today, departure at 1445 in Munich and arriving in Lviv at 1725 local time.

After the match instead of having the traditional post match banquet in Ukraine, the team will fly straight back to Munich and are scheduled to land shortly in Munich shortly after 02:00.

Correct, I've changed it it in my post above.

Still it does mean that Boa hasn't played in a match in 2 weeks which is obviously not a good thing, though I still expect him to start together with Benatia and Alaba.

It's good he hasn't played. He will be more hungry than ever.

Scoreline predictions anyone?
I think 2-1 to Bayern. In the 2nd leg we'll destroy their anuses

3-1 or 3-2 for us sounds about right. Shakhtar, from what I've seen, is an offensive team and I hope we see a very good game with lots of goals

In the U. S. this is broadcast on Fox Sports Channel 2 which is NOT HD on most cable systems. It is also streamed on Fox Soccer 2 Go which is NOT HD either. (unlike ESPN 3 which is generally excellent; this is not available on ESPN 3 either) The Bundesliga is on Fox next year and excepting Fox Sports Channel 1 the quality of most of their broadcasts are awful. It will not be a big step up from GolTV.

everyone looks at UCL to justify how strong their club is & where they rank. I just don't get why critics think Robben is below C.R., or even Neymar & Ibra as suggested by Andrea 'Tobacco' in this article.

Robben > best player in WC, scored in UCL final (after being booed by his own fans). Now being compared to a douche bag called Neymar. Please people get your heads out of your a** football is not so black & white - you don't rate players according to a single aspect like "scoring goals", & you sure as hell don't discredit or tarnish a players entire career because they dived once for the fun of it.

Neymar is the king of diving but still doesn't get as much hate as Robben does.. Wierd

I'm kind of scared of Shaktar. Not sure why though, we should be able to beat them. Meh KO-stages if the CL just scare me

Lviv is safe (on the far west side and is closer to Munich than Barcelona) but even still there is a current ceasefire so everything should be fine.
