He won't come here(nor anywhere this season). Just extended his contract in February until 2020.

My two-cents about the game:

- Thiago played a sort of dribbling regista role, everything we did went through him. He was the center of the team. Most of the time he dictated play just from the front of defense, behind Xabi most of the time.

- Defense was AWFUL. Badstuber is extremely rusty and Feldhahn was awful. Javi and Rafinha were good, as expected. Bernat was kind of useless.

- Ribery is still a genius and will probably start whenever fit. Green did nothing.

- I thought Xabi was pretty bad. He lost many balls unnecessarily and didn't do much. Age or rustiness hit him hard.

- Overall, we looked very disorganized, but that is to be expected from an early friendly.

Formation was:

---------Ribery-Green
---------------Xabi
------Alaba---------Lahm
--------------Thiago
Bernat-Bads-Javi-Rafinha
--------------Ulreich

- Width was alternatively provided by the fullbacks and the wide midfielders (Lahm and Alaba). FBs and Wide MFs took turns, one going into the box diagonally and the other staying wide to support width. I think this will be replicated with Lahm and Alaba as FB and Renato+Vidal as wide central midfielders (this was a key principle in Carlo's Milan).

- Thiago and Ribery were given freedom to roam a lot.

With everyone available, I would expect this to morph into something like:

-----------Lewy
--Ribery-----Müller
-Renato-------Vidal
---------Thiago
Ala-Hum-Boa-Lahm
----------Neuer

Or Ribery behind Lewy and Müller
Or Ribery out and Javi in Thiago's role and Thiago on Xabi's.

Ι hope I'll prove wrong, but what makes you all think that an 18 y.o kid coming from Benfica will be an undoubted starter and cornerstone at the Bayern Munchen team.

And that said I definitely not doubt his talent and his potential, but I won't make him an indisputable starter just because he is a 38M transfer.

Because 1) he already plays fantastically 2) he fits the tactical profile of what *I think* Carlo will want to do with Bayern (see my previous post and have Ancelotti's tactics at Milan in mind to understand what exactly is it that *I think* he wants to do).

Besides, he's most likely taking Coman's spot in the lineup (who's even more raw), cause I don't think Robbery will be starting all year long and Costa will most likely be first choice to take Ribsy's spot.

Ribery will be a starter. No doubt about it.

Thiago will compete with Muller for a spot. Costa is a also a starter, no way we will play without two proper wingers.

Yes way he can play without wingers. Lots of formation dont use any. We no longer have WC wingers in which we can rely. Dont know if he will or wont but IMO it makes more sense to play without proper wingers.

Costa is not as good as Müller, Thiago, Ribery or Robben.

Well, in these friendlies from what i've seen, he always try to use wingers. IMO would be a waste to scrap Wing play because we have two really good fullbacks in Alaba and Lahm.

And while he had a loss of form in 2016, Thiago, Muller also did too. And Robben is injured for a while, no real point in bringing him up yet.

For me being fit is also an important factor to value one.
Costa is being better now .
And besides that, I can't remember many good performances from robben last year when he was able to play.

man Robben should be the last player on this earth to criticize. He came back from a lengthy injury and looked sharper & fitter than most players.

Yes, some guy accros from where I sat was representing!

So disappointing half the team did not make it, I get the german players were still resting, but why didn't Lewandowski come? His country got knocked out way before Germany.
