4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 will depend more on Martinez and Muller than Alonso.

Btw he played 4-4-2 all 2012-13 season with PSG and his Real Madrid played often in 4-4-2 too

How could he have helped played 4-3-3 with Real when he had the BBC leading the attack?

Many time Bale wasn't here in his 2nd season :

Casillas - Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo - James, Modric, Kroos, Isco - Benzema, Ronaldo

In his first season yes on the team sheet it was 4-3-3 but on the field there was a lot of 4-4-2 phase :

Casillas - Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Coentrao - Bale, Modric, Alonso, Di Maria - Benzema, Ronaldo (or else)

But he use alot 442 In defence or if he adopt to oponent in midle of the game.
He is coach that knows how to adopt tactic to the players that he have.
So if Muller must play than he will use something with two strikers or 4-2-3-1 and use Muller the same way as Jup did.
In my opinion we will see 4-2-3-1 and 4-4-2 alot this year. And then 4-3-3.
Not shure if Carlo will use 3 man defence...
How amazing would it be if you used middle English along the verse style writing you do.

I think we really have to start coming to the realism that Ribery, Robben and Holger are going to miss at least 1/2 the season every season.

He's played a 4-3-3, that often was a 4-4-2 in defence only to counter possession-based teams.

I'd be surprised if he goes with a standard 4-4-2 with Muller and Lewandowski on top.

If anything then I can see this;

Neuer
Lahm - Boateng - Hummels - Alaba

Thiago/Kimmich - Vidal/Martinez - Sanches/Vidal

Muller/Robben/Costa - Lewandowski/Muller - Coman/Ribery/Costa

Or a 4-2-3-1
makes sense

i am hoping carlo can turn kimmich into something spectacular. like pirlo

Some quotes from Carlo's presser ahead of this match.

The bit about German and English is brilliant

Ribery is ready.
Badstuber individual training.
Costa started running a couple of days ago.

So Only Ribery will be available.

4-3-3 is what we need vs strong teams in CL.

As far as l read on Sport bild, we will use both 4-3-3 and 4-4-2, depends on rival team's strength.
